Concepts

compound machines, simple machines, levers, wheels, axles, catapults, engineering design, civil engineering, technology resources

Instructional Ideas

  • Allow the pairs to improve the design to see if they can be more accurate

Classroom Considerations

  • You will need space in order to launch the grapes
  • Copy the building directions and distribute to each pair
  • The eighth part in a 10-part series

Pros

  • The activity has assessments to use before, during, and after the activity
  • The directions include pictures on what the catapult should look like at different stages of construction

Cons

  • The directions do not allow for the creativity of the pairs to build their own designs
