The Mexican-American Influence on the United States

High schoolers examine the influences of the Hispanic groups from Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico. In groups, they research the history of Mexico and read excerpts from a book in Spanish to practice their vocabulary. To end the activity, they write letters to the Embassy of Mexico in New York to ask for information about the Hispanic cultures in the American Southwest.

Lesson Planet is absolutely amazing! I teach at a school in the Dominican Republic and rely heavily on the internet for resources. Now, I no longer have to sift through the huge amounts of irrelevant information generated by internet search engines - I love being able to find creative lessons and worksheets for my students in a matter of minutes!
