I like algebra, but graphing is where I draw the line! Worksheet includes three multiple-part questions on interpreting and drawing line graphs. It focuses on the abstract where neither axis has numbers written in, though both are clearly labeled. It concludes with an analysis by student and by class to discover what concepts need the most reinforcement.

Instructional Ideas

  • Create more story problems to graph
  • If scholars are struggling, have them graph actual data points through time instead of just abstract motions, i.e. graph how much water is in a bottle that someone is drinking from by actually measuring it every two minutes

Classroom Considerations

  • Teaching graph analysis before graph creation simplifies the process

Pros

  • Provides a grading rubric
  • Includes many sample answers and how to identify the confusion and concepts you need to reteach

Cons

  • None
