Women in power are the focus of a three-module unit that employs comic books to bring home the importance of equality and proficient media literacy skills. In module one, scholars examine gender roles in media—boosting media literacy and discussing common tropes and stereotypes. Module two focuses on the lack of women in power in the United States. Learners brainstorm possible reasons why and identify important women in their lives. The third module concludes the learning experience by bridging each module's objective and empowers participants through activism.
