Students identify musical styles and musicians associated with Harlem and jazz. In this Harlem music lesson, students learn about the Harlem Renaissance, compare types of jazz and jazz musicians, identify jazz terminology and concepts, identify and analyze different music sounds, and create artwork incorporating emotions found in jazz.
