Writer's Workshop for ESL Students: Refuting an Argument

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet
This Writer's Workshop for ESL Students: Refuting an Argument lesson plan also includes:
  • Writer's Workshop for ESL Students: Building an Argument
  • Writer's Workshop for ESL Students: Weighing an Argument
  • Join to access all included materials

Thorough and well-organized, this lesson plan helps pupils to weigh, build, and refute an argument (the latter of which is featured here; the first two parts are linked within the resource). Given a simplified argument and counter argument, they write persuasive essays about the effects of industrialization and logging. The lesson is designed for ESL learners, but it can be applied to any class that is working on persuasive writing.
