Are You Thirsty? The Effects of Pollution on Drinking Water

Discuss the availability of clean, plentiful water and the causes of water pollution. In groups, sixth graders discuss problem-solving methods for keeping water clean. They explore the function of water treatment plants and perform experiments to predict pollutants that can be stopped by filtration. You could apply reading standards to this instructional activity, but it would be most effective in a life sciences unit.

I am a very busy Head of Department and often don't have time to create worksheets and other resources for my classes. Lesson Planet has helped me find many useful and interesting activities to support my students' learning.
