Are your scholars interested in bugs? Get future entomologists excited about vocabulary through Joanne Oppenheim's colorful book Have You Seen Bugs? They use the informational text (although this strategy is useful for any book) to learn five new words in context: antennae, chrysalis, cocoon, dine, and iridescent. As you read, pupils listen for the words and pay attention to context clues. Each term comes with several comprehension questions to promote connections to prior knowledge.
