One More/One Less Scoop

Curated and Reviewed by Lesson Planet

It's so simple: scoop a spoonful of counters, count them, and then make a set that is one more than that number. Next, make a set that is one less. The tangible nature of this basic addition and subtraction activity will keep learners actively engaged. Extend the skills by having learners create pictures or visual displays to show their processing. To add a product, they could record their numbers on a chart as they go. There is not much to this activity, and a worksheet is not included.
