  • Because the text was written by Rusticello, who conveyed his conversations with Polo when they were imprisoned together, this would be a fantastic opportunity to discuss what truly defines a primary and secondary source, as well as the reliability of historical records as a whole

Classroom Considerations

  • While the resource is in PowerPoint presentation format, you can easily print the slides for student worksheets. Then, project the PowerPoint to model analysis and use as a guide for discussion
  • Pupils should have some foundational knowledge of the Mongols and Marco Polo's background prior to beginning this activity
