Seven resources make up the Bozeman Science: Statistics and Graphing collection. The series begins with a video that introduces the concepts of hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and degrees of freedom. The video also covers the chi-square test and works through several examples to help viewers understand the material. Viewers also learn about the normal distribution curve as the narrator calculates standard deviation by hand and using spreadsheets. The third resource teaches viewers how to calculate standard error from the standard deviation and the number of data values, both by hand and by using spreadsheets. The resource also shows how to display this standard error on a bar graph. The next video in the series first describes the idea of Big Data and its importance to the realm of science. It goes on to describe sample size, mean, median, range, and degrees of freedom. The fifth video reviews different types of graphs (line, bar, circle, histogram, scatter plot) using a matching game. It also describes the purpose of each type of graph to help learners remember when to use each one. The sixth video takes viewers through graphing scientific data by hand to create a scatter plot. The process includes labeling axes, writing an appropriate title, determining a scale, plotting points, and drawing a best-fit curve. The final video shows pupils how to use Excel spreadsheets to graph data in a scatter plot. The video also covers how to change titles, scales, and labels and how to insert a best-fit curve. The collection, which may be used in the flipped classroom, is based on the Next Generation Science Standards.
