Middle schoolers apply probability to real life situation. In this statistics lesson, students play poker and make predictions on what hand they will get next. They apply their knowledge of how probability works to make their predictions.

Fourth graders use two-dimensional and three-dimensional media, techniques, tools, and processes to communicate an idea or concept based on research, environment, personal experience, observation, or imagination.

Students integrate writing skills with music. They select three to four topics to write about and print out on decorative paper.

Fourth graders study wealthy homes of Roman politicians. They explore a businessman's house and describe the types of activities that go on from there.

Students investigate the forces of compression, tension and torque on common birthday balloons.

Fourth graders identify eleven white substances that are commonly found in the household. They, in pairs, perform experiments on a variety of substances, and must identify them based on the reactions they observe.

Students use their non-dominant hand to catch candy which they tossed in the air. They estimate how many they catch in a second round. They record and determine how the probability changed the second time.

Seventh graders explore how to spice up their work using vivid words and images. Afte a lecture/demo, 7th graders try their hand at writing poetry using a lot of adjectives and vivid verbs.

Fourth graders present a dramatic living biography of a famous person based on previous reading and research.

Fifth graders create their own Haiku poem about something they saw on a trip outdoors. They write it on a handmade leaf which is used to create an autumn display in the classroom.
